ISLAMABAD, Aug 31: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has collected Rs107 billion revenue during the first two months (July-August) as against Rs92.5 billion collected during the same months last year, indicating a growth of 15.6 per cent.

Provisional figures showed that almost all revenue spinners recorded growth during the period over last year. However, federal excise duty collection declined during the period.

The revenue on account of direct taxes maintained its buoyant posture, as Rs28.2 billion were collected during July-August 2007 against Rs21.2 billion last year, showing a remarkable increase of 33 per cent.

The sales tax collection reached Rs53.4bn during the two months of the current fiscal year as against Rs44.9bn over last year, indicating a growth of 18.9pc.

The tax receipts on account of federal excise duty recorded a decrease of 8.6 per cent to Rs7.9 billion during July-August period of the current fiscal as against Rs8.6 billion over the same period last year.

The collection on account of customs duty stood at Rs17.5 billion during the period as against Rs17.787 billion collected during the same months last year.
