ISLAMABAD, Aug 20: Three persons were killed in separate incidents here on Monday, police said. In the first incident, a man was killed and another injured after being hit by a speeding vehicle near Islamic university.
Hamid Iqbal and Iftikhar Gul were heading towards Kashmir Highway on a motorcycle when they were hit by a vehicle. Hamid died on the spot while Iftikhar suffered injuries.
In another incident, a bystander named Shamraiz was killed when he was hit by a vehicle (ADY-576) at MPO workshop.
Meanwhile a carpenter was stabbed to death over a petty issue here on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Boota, 30, a resident of Shalimar Plaza, F-10.
According to details, Mohammad Asghar was infuriated after the wood being carried by Boota brushed him. After exchanging hot words, Asghar stabbed Boota in the chest with a screw driver. The injured was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The police have arrested the alleged killer and registered a case against him.
Meanwhile, a man died under unexplained circumstances in an office located in Blue Area.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Akhtar, a peon at an office located in Arcade Plaza, Blue Area, police said.
The incident came to light when his colleagues came to the office on Monday morning and found him dead. The police said Mr Akhtar used to live in the office.
The body of the deceased was shifted to the hospital for legal process. No marks of injuries were found on the body.
The cause of death is still unknown, and will be ascertained after an autopsy, police said.
NINE OUTLAWS ARRESTED: Local police have arrested nine persons and seized illegal weapons and stolen goods worth thousands of rupees from them, a spokesman for the police said here on Monday.
He said three 30-bore pistols, a 44-bore rifle, a 12-bore gun, two magazines, mobiles phones, two televisions, a VCR and other valuables worth thousands of rupees were seized from them. The alleged criminals were arrested from different areas of the capital.
During patrol, Tarnol police arrested Mohammad Hussain for carrying a 44-bore rifle, a 12-bore gun, a 30-bore pistol and two magazines.
The Crime Investigation Agency arrested Mohammad Asif and Zaka Akhtar, allegedly involved in robberies and recovered scores of mobiles, cash and other valuables from them.
Similarly, Industrial Area police arrested Mohammad Asif and recovered two stolen mobile phones from him.
Golra police also recovered stolen valuables worth Rs12,000 from Ghulam Wajid Mehmood and Ghulam Mohammad.
Bhara Kahu police arrested Aurangzeb and seized two television sets from him. Likewise, Margalla police arrested Kareem Khan and recovered a VCR from him.
Rizwan was arrested by Shahzad police for their alleged involvement in robberies.
