PESHAWAR, Aug 20: The NWFP government has formed a three-member committee for the early recovery of an industrialist kidnapped in Hayatabad Industrial Estate. A meeting was held here in this connection on Monday with NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani in chair.

Prominent industrialists briefed the chief minister about the kidnapping incident and asked for his immediate intervention, a participant of the meeting told Dawn.

The three-member committee would include Chief Capital City Police Officer Abdul Majeed Marwat, President Industrialists Association Peshawar Numan Wazir and Assistant Political Agent Jamrud to ensure the safe recovery of Director MKB Group of Industries Dr Saeed Ahmad.

Dr Saeed was kidnapped at gunpoint by unidentified persons on Sunday afternoon near his factory at Hayatabad Industrial Estate.

The chief minister granted approval for issuance of arm license to an industrialist on recommendation of the respective association and concerned police station.

The chief minister also directed concerned authorities to accelerate work on a boundary wall around Hayatabad Industrial Estate.

Meanwhile, CCPO Mr Marwat said the law-enforcement agency had some clues about the whereabouts of the kidnappers and that police were looking at the case from different angles.

The executive committee of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) through a resolution had urged the governor and NWFP chief minister to ensure the safe and early recovery of the kidnapped industrialist.

In an emergency meeting held here on Monday, the executive committee expressed concern over the kidnapping incident. The members of the committee said that it had brought to the notice of the chief minister time and again for strengthening security measures around the industrial estate, but to no avail.
