RAWALPINDI, March 12: A mother of two has been found murdered at her husband’s house in Gangmandi.
Police said the murder of Humaira Bibi — married to Khizr Hussain in 1996 — was discovered when the victim’s brother, Ijaz Hussain, went to her in-laws’ on March 2.
Ijaz told the police that Humaira’s husband and mother- and sister-in-law had always maintained a cruel attitude towards her. He said her sister had been forced to shift to her parents’ due to her in-laws’ violent attitude. She started teaching at a private school.
The complainant said that on March 2, Khizr came to our house at Arya Mohalla and took Humaira with him on the pretext of a meeting with their children who had been staying with him.
Ms Bibi agreed to accompany her husband on the condition that she would be allowed to return in the evening, the complainant said.
However, he added, when Humaira did not return even after sunset, he and another sister of his went to Humaira’s in-laws place where they were told that Humaira was shifted to a hospital as she had not been feeling well.
Ijaz returned to Humaira’s in-laws after failing to trace his sister in different hospitals of the city and found her lying on a bed, her body wrapped in a quilt. He immediately took her to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The Gangmandi police have registered an FIR against Muzafar Begum, the mother-in-law of the deceased, Mukhtar Ali and Ishrat Begum and started investigations. However, no arrest has been made so far.
ROBBERY: Three unidentified robbers raided a house at Eidgah Mohalla on Tuesday and looted Rs1.6 million in cash, Rs1.1m in prize bonds and six gold bangles.
Haji Riaz Butt, a car dealer, lodged an FIR with the Banni police, saying that three unidentified persons, armed with iron rods and one of them carrying a pistol, entered his house while he was away and took his wife and niece hostage at gunpoint.
The culprits looted the valuables and escaped after locking Riaz’s wife and niece inside the house. The women were later freed by neighbours and the incident brought to the notice of police.
