KARACHI, Aug 19: Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmad Khuhro has expressed concern over the breaking out of a fire that devastated the PNSC building and reduced records of the corporation and other offices to ashes.
Commenting on the incident, Mr Khuhro wondered that the building caught fire for the second time in just seven months.
He recalled that all handicaps in the handling of such incidents had come to the fore when the PNSC building had caught fire last time. Ironically, those at the helm of the affair did not take measures to prevent recurrence of such an incident or equip the department concerned with all necessary systems, machinery and equipment.
Jamaat-i-Islami leader Prof Ghafoor Ahmad said a conspiracy could not be ruled out as the building had caught fire again on Sunday and the authorities failed to prevent recurrence of the devastation of the same building.
He also wondered that the agencies concerned bickered over who should extinguish the fire while the building remained on fire all the day.
Yusuf Masti Khan, Secretary-General of the Pakistan Workers Party said chances of sabotage were there as in the previous incident, PNSC records were saved for being gutted but this time, the fire destroyed the same.
