KARACHI, Aug 15: People from different walks of life, particularly the literary circles, on Wednesday expressed grief over the demise of renowned poet, writer and journalist Khalid Alig.
The Pakistan Academy of Letters Chairman, Iftikhar Arif, expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of Khalid Alig.
PAL Karachi Resident Director Agha Noor Muhammad Pathan also arranged a condolence meeting at his office and paid rich tribute to the literary services of the poet. He said Khalid Alig was a friendly man, a great poet, and a follower of Maulana Hasrat Mohani.
He prayed the departed soul might in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved family to sustain this irreparable loss.
The Idara-i-Rooh-i-Adab Pakistan expressed sorrow over the demise. The Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, Dr Pirzada Qasim, Sindh Ombudsman Yusuf Jamal, and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain also expressed grief and sorrow over his death.
In his condolence message, Mr Hussain recalled the literary services of the late Khalid Alig and said as a journalist he played his role fearlessly and worked with dedication without compromising on principles.—PPI/APP
