LONDON, March 12: British manufacturing slouched deeper into recession in January, when output slumped 0.4 per cent from December, leaving annual volumes down 6.1 percent, official figures showed on Tuesday.

Total industrial output, which includes the oil, water, gas and electricity sectors, fell by 0.5 per cent in January from December, leaving it down by 5.2 per cent from January 2001, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported.—AFP
