QUETTA, Aug 12: Two activists of the Baloch Students Organisation were arrested when they were going to Khuzdar by a bus.

According to family sources, Amirul Mulk Baloch, a member of the BSO central committee, and activist Imran Baloch left for Khuzdar on Saturday by bus, but they did not reach their place.

Manzoor Baloch, elder brother of Amirul Mulk, said that the driver of the bus had informed him that they had been taken away by law-enforcement personnel after intercepting the bus at Luckpass, some 30km of Quetta.

He told Dawn from Khuzdar that both were students in Quetta and Khuzdar colleges. He said that he would observe a hunger strike from Aug 14 if they were not released.

The Baloch Students Organisation has condemned the arrest. In a statement, BSO chairman Bashirzeb Baloch accused intelligence agencies of arresting Amirul Mulk and Imran Baloch.

He said the action by law-enforcement agencies was a clear violation of the law and fundamental rights, adding that hundreds of political workers and students had been apprehended for opposing policies of the government.
