ISLAMABAD, Aug 12: The Central Election Monitoring Committee of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has rejected President General Musharraf’s assertion that Ms Benazir Bhutto and other exiled leaders should not return to the country saying that this amounted to pre-poll rigging.

“Musharraf has no right to stop national leaders from coming to Pakistan”, a meeting of the Monitoring Committee held with its Central Coordinator, Senator Lateef Khosa observed.

The meeting was attended by Member National Assembly Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, Amer Fida Paracha MPA, Former Ambassador B A Malik, Palwasha Behram, Mansoor Sheikh, Kashif Rizvi and Nazir Dhoki.

According to Media Coordinator of the Committee, Nazir Dhoki, the Committee expressed its concern over ‘massive irregularities reported in Sanghar’ where Assistant Election Commissioner is a follower of Pir Pagara, the head of Function Muslim League who has in connivance with the administration has registered thousands of fake and double votes in Sanghar District.

Nazir Dhoki said that the report received from Sanghar was being sent to the Chief Election Commissioner with a demand of action against the Assistant Election Commissioner Sanghar so that rigging could be prevented in the forthcoming elections. Nazir Dhoki said that the Monitoring Committee was analysing the voters’ list in every national and provincial assemblies constituencies and the office bearers of the Party were actively cooperating in this effort.
