KARACHI, Aug 12: The Inspector-General of Sindh Police, Ziaul Hassan Khan, has ordered officials to take special security measures throughout the province, particularly at public places in the metropolis, on the occasion of Independence Day.
Presiding over a high-level meeting on Sunday, he instructed the police officials to carry out checking and patrolling at the Mazar-i-Quaid, National Stadium, Sea View Clifton and other public places in the city besides deployment of policemen dressed in official uniform and plain clothes.
He ordered that the operations branch, special branch and CID police should keep an eye on suspected elements and exchange information so that any untoward incident could be averted.
He also issued orders for monitoring of celebrations at different places through close-circuit cameras.
The IG said that special security arrangements should be made and police control rooms should be established, if necessary.
The meeting was also attended by CCPO Azhar Ali Farooqui, Additional IG Special Branch Fayyaz Ali Khan, Additional IG Investigation Zafar Ahmed Farooqui, DIG Operations South Javed Bukhari, DIG Operations West Falak Khurshed, DIG Operations East Mir Zubair Mehmood, DIG Headquarters Waseem Ahmed, DIG CID Saood Ahmed, DIG Traffic Wajed Ali Khan and DIG Special Brach Security PM Abbasi.—PPI
