LONDON, Aug 9: The dollar and the yen rose on Thursday as a new bout of risk aversion gripped global financial markets owing to renewed concerns about the impact of problems in the US subprime mortgage sector.

In late European trade, the euro slipped to $1.3783, from $1.3796 in New York late on Wednesday.

The pound was being traded at 2.0276 dollars (2.0371).—AFP
