PARIS, Aug 7: The French swimming federation fears world and Olympic champion Laure Manaudou could be ready to retire.

Manaudou was fired from her Italian team on Monday just a year before the Olympics.

“It’s an extraordinarily difficult situation to live through for a young woman of 20 years,” French swimming federation technical director Claude Fauquet said on Tuesday.—AP
