RAWALPINDI, Aug 7: Additional District and Sessions Judge Shaukat Mehmood here on Tuesday issued arrest warrant of the station house officer (SHO) of Pirwadhai police for not complying with the court orders in a drug peddling case.
The judge reprimanded six other government officials for creating hurdles in the legal proceedings.
The court had declared an accused in a drug case as proclaimed offender and directed the SHO Pirwadhai to display three public notices in this regard. One notice was to be pasted outside the police station, the second at a busy intersection near the house of the accused and the third outside the relevant court.
The police had also been ordered to submit a copy of the notice to the court, but they failed to do so. A police constable appearing before the court maintained that the copy of the notice had been lost.
The judge reprimanded the official and directed the police to arrest the SHO and produce him before the court on September 21.
In another case, the court asked the senior doctor of District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital to release the medico-legal report of an under-trail prisoner who had stitched his lips on July 31 in protest against the authorities of the Adiala Jail for allegedly torturing him.
Anwarul Haq, 25, was arrested by the Waris Khan police in a robbery case. The judge asked the authorities concerned to submit the report to the court on August 9.
The medico-legal reports in two other cases of torture in the jail are awaited and the judge again directed the doctor concerned of the DHQ hospital to present the reports on August 9.
Meanwhile, the same court issued a show-cause notice to sub- inspector Gulzar Ahmed of the Airport police on the charge of harassing a citizen, Qaiser Elahi, and for not submitting written comments in this regard. The police official was directed to appear in the court on August 11. In another case, the judge directed the SHO of Waris Khan police to submit a detailed report for falsely implicating a citizen, Dil Pazir, in a criminal case. The SHO informed the court that innocent people involved in the case would be set free after completion of investigations.
Policemen put on notice: Additional District and Sessions Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed Khan here on Monday served show-cause notices on two police officials for not complying with the court orders.
In the first case, the judge issued a show-cause notice to Pirwadhai police station SHO in a Hudood case.
The SHO is not appearing before the court despite repeated notices. On the last hearing, the SHO was again directed to appear before the court but he neither turned up nor returned the court summons.
Now, Mr Khan has directed the SHO to appear in the court on September 12 and explain his absence.
In a murder case registered with the Kahuta police station, the judge issued a show-cause notice to the investigating officer (IO) for not appearing and producing booty (material related to the case) in the court for many days.
