KARACHI, Aug 7: The Higher Education Commission has approved the construction of a modern sports complex at the Ojha campus of the Dow University of Health Sciences.

A decision to this effect was taken at the HEC’s Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP) meeting held in Islamabad, said a statement issued here on Tuesday.

The PC-1 was prepared by the director planning and development, DUHS, Barkat Ali Rajput and was presented by the vice- chancellor, Prof Masood Hameed Khan.

According to a DUHS spokesperson, the project is a part of overall vision/perspective plan 2007-2011.

Its estimated cost is Rs38.650 million and will be completed in 12 months. The aim of the project is to develop minimum required indoor and outdoor sports facilities and related infrastructure at the Ojha campus.

The statement said that the facility was required for the provision of recreational activities and development of team spirit in about 3,626 students and 1,200 faculty members of the university.

The complex would be a part of the Medical Research City of the Dow University of Health Sciences, it added.
