KARACHI, Aug 1: The Sindh High Court on Tuesday said petitioner Syed Mohammad Iqbal Kazmi, seeking quashment of the FIRs lodged against him at different police stations for his alleged involvement in some cases, could move bail applications before the respective trial courts.

A division bench, comprising SHC Chief Justice Sabihuddin and Justice Muhammad Afzal Soomro, put off the proceedings on the petition filed by the civil rights campaigner till Aug 10.

Some five different cases had been registered against the petitioner last year by various police stations on charges of fraud and issuing dud cheques. The petitioner was arrested by the Darakhshan police on June 12. He was also produced before the bench.

The bench directed Assistant Advocate-General Abdul Jabbar Lakho to ensure the security of the relatives of the petitioner.

The bench also told the petitioner that he might move a bail application before the trial courts so that he could represent his cases.—APP
