PESHAWAR, Aug 1: A peace committee was set up in Akbarpura area in the Nowshera district on Wednesday to work for addressing local disputes, curbing crimes and maintaining peace in the area.
Noted religious scholar and spiritual leader Pir Syed Shamshad Ali Shah will head the peace committee.
The peace committee will regularly meet each month to chalk out the future line of action for establishment of peace in the area.
Former Chairman of the District Justice Committee Syed Sabiz Ali Shah, PML Provincial Joint Secretary Malik Shahjehan Khan, Pakistan Tahrik-i-Insaf provincial leader Syed Haider Ali Shah, PPP leader Syed Iftikhar Ali Shah and UC Nazim Mumraz were members of the committee.
Speaking on this occasion, participants of meeting said they would cooperate with police and the district administration in maintaining law and order and eliminating crimes from the area.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Mir Qasim Khan and Akbarpura SHO Abdur Rauf Khan sought cooperation of ulema, media professionals and representatives of the local government to check activities of criminals in the area.—APP
