MS BHUTTO told the BBC on Monday night that talks with the government on brokering a deal had stalled over ‘core issues’.

According to the broadcaster’s website, she said the PPP wanted any deal implemented before polls this year — not a ‘futuristic date’, as suggested by the government. She refused to confirm reports that she had held direct talks with Gen Musharraf in Abu Dhabi.
