KARACHI, July 24: Over 200 new streets will be constructed in all the seven union councils of Malir Town this year. Town Nazim Ansar Ahmed Shaikh said this on Tuesday during a visit to different areas of the town including Saudabad and Model Colony to review the progress of ongoing uplift projects.
Naib Nazim Sharafat Ali, DTO Saleem Arif, XEN Water Abrar Hussain, XEN Sewerage Abdul Ghaffar Shaikh and other officials were also present on the occasion.
The nazim listened to the complaints of people during his visit and directed the relevant officials to solve their problems.
The establishment of a ‘Parda park’ for women at UC-1 of Site Town will provide a healthy entertainment to women and children.
This was stated by the town’s Naib Nazim Syed Badshah Khan while visiting the park here on Tuesday.
He said a huge amount of money had been spent on the construction of the park and added that it was the responsibility of the public and management to look after the plants, slides and atmosphere of the park.
He said that similar parks would also be constructed in other UCs of the town while the renovation of existing parks was also under way, so that people of every union council could have access to healthy entertainment opportunities.
Saddar Town Nazim Mohammad Dilawar, MPA Syed Shakir Ali and TMO Mukhtar Hussain on Tuesday inspected the cleaning of a rainwater drain at Hasrat Mohani Road.
The nazim directed the agencies concerned to remove the garbage taken out from the drain to facilitate the residents of the area. He called for the removal of all illegal sewerage connections with the nullah.
The nazim appealed to the residents not to throw plastic bags and other refuse into the drain.
The Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town administration on Tuesday removed illegal encroachments from various areas of the town including Allama Shabir Ahmed Usmani Road, Maskan Apartments, Allah Noor Apartments and the surrounding areas of KDA Market.
Town Nazim Mohammad Wasay Jalil, along with Naib Nazim Shoaib Akhtar, TMO Shafiqur Rehman and TO Infrastructure Mubin Siddiqui visited the areas.
The nazim said traffic signals at Disco Bakery roundabout would soon be installed to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
Meanwhile, the staff of the city government’s revenue group of offices removed encroachments from Korangi’s 13,000 Road on Tuesday to clear the way for the construction of the remaining two kilometre track of the road from Singer Chowrangi to the Malir River via Gulshan-i-Millat.
The under-construction road is part of the Malir River Bridge Project that has been implemented under the Tamir-i-Karachi Programme. Seventeen houses and shops were razed during the operation.—PPI
