MIRAMSHAH, July 20: Four people, including a paramilitary soldier, were killed and five others were injured when a suicide bomber rammed his explosives-packed car into a security check post near Miramshah in the North Waziristan Agency on Friday.

The deceased included two civilians and the bomber. Two of the five injured were reported to be personnel of the paramilitary forces.

Sources said the attack was the latest chapter in the recent spate of attacks on the security forces in the troubled region where an inter-tribal grand jirga was holding talks with militants at an undisclosed location.

Officials said that the suicide attack was carried out at Boya check post, some 15kms west of Miramshah.

Paramilitary personnel signalled a car coming from the Datakhel area to Miramshah to stop for checking at the check post at about 12:30pm.

An official said the car driver ignored the signal and rammed the vehicle into the check post which resulted in a big explosion.

After the suicide attack security forces fired mortar shells and targeted suspected militant positions in the area close to the Afghan border.
