RAWALPINDI, July 20: Anti Terrorist Court (ATC) No. 2 Special Judge Sakhi Mohammad Kahot on Friday sent 38 students of Jamia Fareedia to Adiala Jail on judicial remand in different cases related to the Lal Masjid episode.

The Islamabad police had demanded extension of their physical remand for five days, but the judge while turning down the request sent the students to the jail for 14 days. The police told the court they wanted to recover weapons such as arms and sticks from them.

Ten seminary students were produced before the court in the case of the abduction of Chinese masseurs registered with the Margalla police station.

Thirteen others were presented in the case of police personnel’s abduction registered with the Kohsar police station and fifteen more in the CDs burning case registered with the Bhara Kahu police station.

These students were among the 134 Lal Masjid pupils who were remanded in police custody despite the orders of the Supreme Court about their release after preliminary investigations. Forty students were sent to jail on July 19.
