KARACHI: July 20: The Republic of Slovenia set up its Honorary Consulate in Karachi effective from June 18, 2007, says a press release. Slovenia, a member of the European Union, has an excellent central location in Europe and enjoys a GDP per capita substantially higher than other transitioning economies.

The major industries include ferrous metallurgy and aluminium products, lead and zink smelting, electronics, including military electronics, trucks, electric power equipment, wood products, textile, chemicals and machine tools.

The statement hopes that with the opening of the Slovenian Consulate in Karachi trade relations between Pakistan and EU, particularly Slovenia, are likely to be enhanced.
