LONDON, July 19: British public sector net borrowing worsened in June, official data showed on Thursday in a piece of bad news for new finance minister Alistair Darling, analysts said.
Public sector net borrowing (PSNB), the government’s preferred measure of the public finances, widened to 7.4 billion pounds in June from 6.3 billion pounds a year earlier.
The June 2007 reading marked the worst deficit for that month since records began in 1993, according to data issued by Britain’s Office for National Statistics.—AFP
