LONDON, July 12: The euro hit another record high close to $1.38 on Thursday, boosted by US housing concerns amid a political stand-off between France and Germany over the European currency's soaring value.

The single currency touched $1.3798 in early deals -- an all-time high.

In late European trading, it pulled back to $1.3776, up from 1.3741 in New York.

The euro also set a new record of 168.81 against the yen as the Japanese currency continued to be weighed down by ultra-low domestic interest rates.

The dollar traded for 122.56 yen, up slightly from 122.45 late on Wednesday.

The euro was changing hands at $1.3776, against $1.3741 late on Wednesday, 168.77 yen (168.28), 0.6787 pounds (0.6761) and 1.6580 Swiss francs (1.6576).—AFP
