CDWP okays 32 projects of Rs77bn

ISLAMABAD, June 30: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) here on Saturday approved 32 development projects, costing Rs77 billion, including a foreign aid component of Rs23.5 billion.

The CDWP meeting was held here under the chairmanship of deputy chairman, Planning Commission, Dr Mohammad Akram Sheikh.

Later briefing newsmen, a spokesman for the Planning Commission, Asif Sheikh, said it was the last meeting of the CDWP for the financial year 2006-07.

He said in the earlier meetings of the CDWP which were held every month, 391 projects, costing Rs415.6 billion were approved.

Asif Sheikh said during the current financial year Rs245.5 billion development funds under Public Sector Development Programme were released which is 98 per cent of the total allocation.

Highlighting the allocations, he said out of total 32 development projects approved by the CDWP, 13 projects related to infrastructure costing Rs51.8 billion with foreign aid component of Rs10.1 billion.

He said that social sectors’ 13 projects worth Rs20.0 billion, including foreign aid component of Rs12.1 billion, were also approved by the CDWP.

Similarly, he said in other sectors, six projects, costing Rs5.2 billion, including foreign aid component of 1.3 billion, were also approved by the CDWP.—APP
