KHAIRPUR, June 15: Pro-government tribal chiefs and waderas are responsible for bloody tribal feuds in the province as they don’t want it to be resolved, says Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz Chairman Basheer Khan Qureshi. He said that it was the government’s responsibility to maintain law and order but it failed.

He said this in the meeting of the JSQM Sindh central office bearers and media people at the residence of senior vice president Syed Mujtaba Shah Rashidi in Pir Jo Goth on Friday. He said that he came to this conclusion after meeting notables of tribes particularly in northern Sindh. People, he said, desire peace to fighting.

He said that he along with social and political persons visited Sukkur, Shikarpur, Rohri and other areas last week, where people responded positively to the JSQM’s idea of settling disputes but blamed sardars, waderas and the government for creating hurdles.

Soyem: Soyem of Dr Abdul Sami Malik, son of renowned poet and scholar Fattah Malik, was held on Friday at Sukkur. He was 33. A large number of lawyers, poets, journalists and civil society persons including renowned poet Mazhar Jameel, Qurban Pirzado, Akhtar Dargahi, Sarwar Saif, Shakir Shah and others attended Fateha.

Dr Abdul Sami was a medical graduate of the Dow Medical College Karachi and did his FRCS from London. During stay in London, he was diagnosed with the hepatitis-C.

After completing the FRCS, he came back and started his practice in Karachi.

A few days back he fell sick and began living with his family in Sukkur. He left behind widow, two sons and other family members.
