BRASILIA, June 1: Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva plans to forge a common front with India on global trade talks and slash protectionism that keeps trade to a trickle between the two emerging market giants during a visit there next week.

Brazil and India have been key partners within the G20 group of developing countries pushing rich nations for freer global farm trade.

But behind the scenes, they disagree. Brazil wants India to further open its markets to farm imports, a demand the United States and the European Union have also made before they could improve their offers in the Doha round of trade talks.—Reuters
