KARACHI, May 28: The Sindh Assembly will meet on Tuesday in a requisitioned session which is fourth in the series convened on the requisition by joint opposition to consider law and order and other pressing issues.

Despite heavy agenda of 24 items, there is no possibility of carrying on house proceedings in a smooth manner as the adjournment motion of Nisar Khuhro, which is the basis of convening the session, would draw a lot of fireworks from the treasury benches, particularly the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Through his motion Mr Khuhro has requested that the proceedings of the assembly be adjourned to discuss a definite matter of recent and urgent public importance — the government’s failure to protect the lives of people on May 12 who were killed by the armed activists throughout the city in general and Sharae Faisal in particular. According to the press reports appearing on May 13, whose clippings were also attached with the motion, more than 40 people were killed in presence of unarmed police and the law enforcing agencies.

Four identical motions (16, 10, 14 and 2) whose notices were given by Yunus Barai, Shamim Ara Panhwar, Sharfunnisa Leghari and Muhammad Rafique advocate were also included in the order of the day.

Through another motion, Shazia Atta Muhammad Marri had given a notice regarding the city council session on the April 26.

Being Tuesday, which is private member’s day, the order of the day had enlisted legislature business 12 private bills for introduction and nine private bills for consideration in addition to four private resolutions.
