KARACHI, Oct 20: The District Coordination Officer (DCO), Karachi, Shafiqur Rehman Piracha, visited Saddar Town and inspected the pace of work of ongoing development projects under Khushhal Pakistan Programme (KPP) on Saturday.
He inspected SMB Fatima Jinnah School, Nishter Road, where a new floor with five new classrooms is being added and construction of toilets at the Govt Primary School, Kutchery Road, and Govt Girls Primary School Gizri. He expressed his dissatisfaction over the pace of work and instructed the Executive District Officers (EDOs) to hold a meeting with concern engineers and remove impediments to ensure the completion of work within a week.
The DCO also took notice of unsatisfactory cleanliness arrangements at these schools and instructed the staff to make arrangements on self-help basis and maintain cleanliness. Absence of head masters in these schools was also noted and instructions were issued for necessary action against them.
The DCO also instructed the Education Department to arrange allocation of staff for 135 schools in Saddar Town and provide them duty list.
The EDOs of Education were instructed to evolve a system wherein participation of supervisors are ensured and standard of education is improved. It was also instructed to maintain a visit register so that whenever a senior officer visits the schools he should be aware of the last visit and compare improvements with the previous remarks. He also emphasized upon maintaining minutes of meetings of the Parents-Teachers Association.
A total of eighteen development projects were approved under the KPP, including construction of four roads, four education- related projects, purchase of five machinery and five electricity-related works.—PPI
