KARACHI, May 19: Three-year-old bay filly Friendly Fire, who delighted the racing fraternity with her speed by galloping to two fluent wins last month, looks set to make it three-in-a-row in the Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
Owned by Ali Gul and trained by Sufi M. Ayub, the filly first posted 10 lengths victory on April 22 and then went on repeat the winning feat with a facile 14 lengths win on April 29. On both the occasions she was smartly ridden home by M. Nasir.
Keeping in view her track record of successes, she is the days’ best bet and in all probability destined to rule the field in the fourth race of div II class VII to be gone over five furlongs.
Chestnut colt Shiracco and dark bay filly Janu Love Inshu are likely to follow her for remaining places.
Patricia and Sharp Cat are to fight for supremacy in the feature event which is the last race of the programme. We recommend the former from the stables of Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara.
Bay filly Foolish Pleasure is poised to pick up spoils in the supporting event. Also in contention is Pir Pagara’s bay colt Laat Sahib who can win provided he puts up his best performance.
If tried by connection, five-year-old bay Powerful Gambler should reign supreme in the opener.
Another five-year-old bay Fascinate and six-year-old bay Azam the Great should make amends by picking up the remaining two races.
A card of six races has been chalked out for the day. The action begins at 2:00pm.
