KARACHI, May 12: Emotionally charged participants of the pro-chief justice rally on Saturday set ablaze two motorcycles at the JPMC where at least 14 bodies and 63 injured were brought from different sections of Sharea Faisal.

Dr Seemin Jamali, in-charge of the Emergency Centre at the JPMC, told Dawn that all 14 deceased were shot dead while most of the injured had also sustained bullet wounds. “Only three injured are being treated at the emergency right now as the others had since been shifted to operation theatres and wards,” she said at about 8pm.

She said the workers of the opposition parties who reached the hospital along with the violence victims were initially charged but later they calmed down as the doctors and paramedics attended the victims professionally.

Eye-witnesses said the workers and supporters of the opposition parties chanted slogans against the government.
