ISLAMABAD, May 1: The Supreme Court has directed the local administration to allow into the Supreme Court premises only people holding appropriate cards issued to attend the hearing of the reference against Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry by the Supreme Judicial Council on Wednesday, an administration official told this correspondent on Tuesday.
The apex court asked the administration to stop lawyers and political workers from entering the court’s premises without the special cards.
The source said the SC’s registrar had sent a letter to the administration directing it to allow only journalists covering the SC proceedings and people whose cases were being heard by the court.
The letter expressed concern over ‘mishebavior’ of some lawyers and political workers inside the court.
The SC’s registrar also expressed dissatisfaction over incidents in which a large number of lawyers and political workers had entered the court’s compound during previous hearings of the CJ’s reference.
