QUETTA, April 20: The struggle for rights and protection of Balochistan’s resources would continue despite the continuing oppression against the Baloch people, according to National Party Chief Dr Hayee Baloch.

In his opening remarks to the party’s central executive committee meeting on Friday, Dr Hayee said that the nationalist, political and democratic forces were united against autocratic rule, adding that the judicial crisis had been triggered because of the military rulers’ desire to permanently remain in power. He praised the lawyers and political groups’ reaction against the government’s unconstitutional action.

A statement issued by the party said that the meeting discussed various issues relating to Balochistan and organisational matters and maintained that the party had played an important role in the national struggle for the protection of resources.

It said that to achieve the rights, contacts should be established with youths, women, lawyers, doctors, NGOs, cultural associations and social organisations to expand the party’s base.

The meeting would continue on Saturday.
