ISLAMABAD, April 12: An official spokesman has described as incorrect a report in the daily Dawn of April 12 saying that during the cabinet meeting held on April 11, serious allegations about massive corruption were levelled by a member of the cabinet against the chairman of the Higher Education Commission.

During the meeting, the chairman, HEC, made a presentation on the higher education sector and, according to the spokesman, the cabinet as a whole, including the prime minister, were appreciative of HEC’s efforts and achievements since its establishment in 2002. The issue of alleged corruption was not raised by any member of the cabinet, he claimed.
