HYDERABAD, Feb 25: The Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) has demanded of the government to rescind its decision of increase in gas tariff.
In a statement issued here on Monday, Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry senior vice president Mohammad Akram Arain said that the decision had badly affected the manufacturers of glass, bangles, biscuit, iron and paper industries in Hyderabad and its suburbs.
He said that these were the major consumers of gas and added that the decision would also harm our export internationally.
He said that eight glass bangles industries had already been closed and 30 of them were on the verge of closure.
He said that if these 30 glass bangles industries were also closed then it would result in massive joblessness.
He maintained that the any increase in the gas tariff would destroy the industries.
Mr Arain pointed out that the government should consult the members of business community and make the gas tariff more realistic instead of making a sharp increase.
Mr Arain said that the tariff should be reduced because it was in the interest of our economy.
