JACOBABAD, March 20: Relatives of a 17-year-old boy who died a week ago in an operation staged a rally on Tuesday against the surgeon blaming him for the teenager’s death.
The rally started from the Channa Mohalla and reached the press club after marching on different roads of the city ans staging a sit-in in front of the Civil Hospital where the operation was conducted.
The protesters led by father of the boy Mohammad Saleh alias Sanwal Channa also staged a sit-in outside the club demanding arrest of the surgeon.
Mr Sanwal blamed the surgeon’s negligence for his son Saeed Channa’s death and said that the doctor had charged him Rs10,000 and said the operation would be conducted at his private hospital.
But instead he operated upon his son in the Civil Hospital where he died, he said.
The father who had already filed an FIR against the surgeon accused him of taking out kidneys instead of operating upon the leg, which late Saeed had broken in a mishap and demanded exhumation of his son’s body for post mortem.
When contacted the civil surgeon said that he had informed the heal secretary about the result of doctors team formed in the wake of operation to look into the issue and fix responsibility. SP investigation said that the police would move to take action against the doctor after receiving a report from the doctors team.
