Robber killed in firing by accomplice

LAHORE, March 20: An unidentified young bandit was killed in firing by his accomplice during a dacoity bid in Gulshan Ravi here on Tuesday.

Ghulam Mustafa, owner of the Ravi Estate Agency, told police the moment that he had come out of his office at Moon Market, two motorcyclists held him up and demanded cash and valuables.

When he overpowered one of the interceptors, his accomplice opened fire. A bullet hit the robber caught by Mustafa.

The killer managed his escape on his motorcycle.

The police took the body into custody and recovered three cell phones and a pistol from his clothes.

The police said the accused had earlier snatched three cell phones from three students — Ali, Saeed and Nawaz — in the same market. The students later identified the dead robber.

Two gunmen burst into a shop adjacent to Mozang High School and took away Rs500,000 in cash, calling cards and cell phones from the owner.

Robbers barged into a house in Baghbanpura, held the inmates hostage and managed their escape with cash and valuables.

Three gun-toting men snatched Rs35,000 in cash and a cell phone from a citizen at Hamdani Chowk in Islampura.

Abdul Rehman and Javed of Mozang and Qila Gujar Singh areas, respectively, were deprived of their cell phones.
