Police team attacked, accused rescued

GUJRANWALA, March 7: Three accused involved in a Hudood case were freed by assailants following attacking a police party in Dhulley on Wednesday.

Police said Nazer, Fiaz and Ashfaq raped a woman ‘S’. They got information that the accused were present in their house. A police team, led by an ASI, raided the house and arrested them.

In the meantime, the family members and friends of the accused attacked the police party with clubs and iron rods and freed the accused.

A case was registered against the assailants.

EXHIBITION: British deputy high commissioner Hamish Daniel inaugurated sixth ‘Made-in-Gujranwala’ exhibition at the Ghulshan-i-Iqbal Park and termed it a source of promoting trade and bilateral relation between Pakistan and the UK on Wednesday.

Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Rana Shahzad Hafiz and office bearers welcomed him and extended their cooperation in promoting relation between the two countries.

He told the guest that 130 stalls have been set up by manufacturers to introduce their quality products at international level.

He said the government was constructing business centres in Gujranwala which would help increase exports.

He said for Pakistan, UK was an important trade market.

The exhibition will continue till March 27.
