QUETTA, Oct 19: Leaders of the Council for Defence of Pakistan-Afghanistan urged the people on Friday to donate money and blood for the Taliban of Afghanistan, who are resisting US aggression.

Addressing a public meeting at Ayub Stadium, the religious leaders criticized the government for extending facilities to the US in carrying out air raids against the Afghans.

Balochistan Jamaat Islami chief Maulana Abdul Haq regretted that the turnout in the meeting was much less than the previous meetings.

A Jamiat Ulema Islam leader, Maulana Noor Mohammad, who presided over the meeting, appealed to the Muslims to donate generously for the cause of Afghan Jihad.

He criticized the government for detaining and registering treason case against his party chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

He said that after the US attack on Afghanistan, Jihad had become obligatory for every Muslim they should wage holy war against the US under the leadership of Mullah Omar.

Former senator Hafiz Fazal Ahmed, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed Shuwrodi, Mohammad Idrees, Maulana Majeed Kharani and Maulana Idrees Lango also spoke and prayers were offered for the victory of Taliban.

Unlike the previous two public meetings, the crowd was small and less boisterous.

JI chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad will preside over the public meeting next week, it was announced.
