KARACHI, Feb 28: An overhead water tank built in Mubarak Village, Keamari Town was inaugurated by Sindh Minister for Culture Abdul Rauf Siddiqui on Wednesday morning.

The fishermen’s village located at the Sindh-Balochistan coastal border has a population of 5000. It is an attractive resort because of its scenic beauty, the sea and surrounding mountain terrain.

The villagers while welcoming the chief guest, demanded an explanation that when Hub Dam and Hubco power plant were located in close vicinity, why they were still without proper water and electricity supplies.

Mr Rauf Siddiqui regretted that the centuries old village was deprived of basic amenities. He assured that all-out efforts would be made to solve the problem.

He said he would submit a proposal to construct a dam in the village for storage of rain water. The funds would be made available through MPA development fund, he added.

The minister also assured the appointment of teachers in the government boys school and construction of a girls school would be taken up at the appropriate forum. He suggested that separate classes for boys and girls could be held in the morning and evening shift. The minister also distributed sewing machines among the needy women.

Earlier, Director Fishermen Cooperative Society Salim Deedag, briefed the minister about the problems being faced by the fishermen. Also present on the occasion were Zameer Ahmed Khan, incharge, FCS Vigilance Committee.
