KARACHI, Feb 25: An Urdu poetry collection of a young Baloch, Imran Saqib, was launched here on Saturday evening.

Entiled ‘Aab-i-Sarab’, the book’s launching was held at the Arts Council and it was attended by a large number of Baloch intellectuals, literary figures and NGO activists.

The ceremony, presided over by Prof Sehr Ansari, was addressed by Haris Khaliq, Prof Ali Mohammad Shaheen, Rahim Bakhsh Azad and Faisal Edhi and others.

The speakers lauded the revolutionary ideas presented by the young poet in the book, saying that he had revived the memories of Baloch revolutionary poets Mir Gul Khan Naseer and Ata Shad.

They said the revolutionary literature had always played a significant role in creating social awareness among the people.

They recalled that there was a time when talking about imperialism and feudalism was considered a sin, but the situation had now been changed due to the people’s awareness contributed by progressive literature.

The speakers stressed the need for translating Balochi verses of Mir Gul Khan Naseer into Urdu.

On the occasion, Mr Saqib presented Ghazals from his book and enthralled the audience.
