PESHAWAR, Feb 21: NWFP Minister for Science, IT and Sports Hussain Ahmad Kanju on Wednesday assured the residents of Jarma, Kohat, that the decades-old state land issue of Jarma and proprietary rights for its dwellers would be resolved on priority.
He said the government had already formed a Jarma Land Commission (JLC) to find a permanent solution of the issue.
The minister was talking to a delegation of Jarma comprising district Jamaat-i-Islami chief Pir Faheem Shah, Dr Iqbal Fana and Jarma Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Amir Maulvi Mohammad Kamal.
The delegation sought representation of Tehsin Ahmad, Jarma Union Council Nazim, and Syed Faiq Ali Shah, heir of the lessee, the late Mian Badshah Benori, in the commission.
The NWFP government formed the JLC under the chairmanship of provincial Education Minister Maulana Fazl-e-Ali Haqqani. Other members of the commission are provincial ministers Hussain Ahmad Kanju, Malik Zafar Azam, Shah Raz Khan and Maulana Amanullah Haqqani, MPA Khanzada Shad Mohammad Khan Khattak, Kohat district nazim and secretaries of revenue and home departments.
Mr Kanju said that all stakeholders would be taken into confidence on the land issue.—PPI
