MIRPURKHAS, Feb 20: The district council on Tuesday called upon the district nazim and DCO through a resolution to release share from Octroi tax to the under-developed union councils of the district to enable them to dvelop.The council’s session was chaired by District Naib Nazim Dr Zafar Ahmed Kamali.
Member Mir Zafarullah Khan Talpur pointed out that the chairman of district zakat and ushr committee and in-charge of Pakistan Baitul Maal Mirpurkhas did not bother to attend the session despite being called for briefing the council.
He demanded that the authorities of agriculture department should apprise the council of Rs100 million allocated for lining of watercourses in the district.
Mr Talpur charged that substandard material was being used in the lining of watercourses, which developed cracks soon after they were constructed.
Nawab Younus Talpur called for a discussion on the stoppage of ongoing development schemes in the constituencies of Awam Dost nazims.
Wali Mohammad Inqalabi demanded that the Rs27 million lithotripsy machine provided by Sindh government to the Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas should be utilised. It had been closed since the day it arrived, he said.
EDO Health Dr Hadi Bux Leghari responded that the machine could not be started because of shortage of trained staff and delay in handing over of newly-constructed building by the building department. As soon as the trained staff arrived and building handed over, the machine would start functioning, he assured.
The session unanimously adopted a resolution seeking provision of two deep freezers to the Civil Hospital for storing hepatitis vaccines.
EDO Agriculture Dodo Khan Leghari said that no proper medicine was available throughout the world to control the cotton’s mealy bug disease.
Mohammad Aslam Kaimkhani complained that substandard, spurious and sand mixed fertilisers and pesticides were being openly sold in the local markets and the agriculture department had not yet taken any action.
Jafar Kalro charged that officers at district nazim secretariat had changed the location of his proposed development scheme and demanded an impartial enquiry. He warned that he would form a forward bloc in the council if his demand was not met.
The session was adjourned to next day after the members of opposition boycotted the meeting over the absence of in-charge of Baitul Maal and chairman of zakat and ushr committee.
Earlier, the session offered fateha for the victims of Quetta bomb blast and Samjhota Express incidents.
