QUETTA, Feb 10: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday sentenced five accused to life imprisonment for killing Dr Abdul Samad Achakzai and Abdur Razak.
Muhammad Ghais Nausherwani, judge of the Anti-Terrorist Court No2, Quetta, convicted Hafiz Aminullah, Satu, Ramzan, Tor Jan and Talib Jamalzai in absentia for life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs100,000 each.
According to the prosecution, the heirs have nominated the accused in the FIR for killing Dr Abdul Samad Achakzai and Abdur Razzak and injuring Suleman Shah near Chaman in 2006.
The court also sentenced them to a 10-year imprisonment term and fine of Rs25,000 each for injuring Suleman Shah.
The court had issued non-bailable arrest warrant of the accused besides sentencing them for five year of imprisonment for not appearing before the court.
Hafiz Aminullah is the brother of former provincial minister Hafiz Hamadullah belonging to the Jamait Ulema Islam (Fazl) while Dr Samad Achakzai was affiliation with the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party.
