LAHORE, Feb 8: A match-winner by Dhruvpal Godara in an extra chukker propelled Motorola to a 7-6 win against Pakistan Team to enter the final of National Polo Championship for Quaid-i-Azam Gold Cup.
They now meet defending champions Bank Alfalah, in the final on Saturday.
The bankers trounced GSK/Diamond Paints 11-8, in the other semi-final on Thursday.
In the first match six-goal James Harper gave Motorola 1-0 lead in the first chukker. With a a 60-yard penalty hit.
The Pakistan Team retaliated in the second chukker but only to level the score 2-2. Hissam Ali Hyder struck back-to-back goals for the losers
But Harper rescued the winners scoring his second to put them on an even keel.
The third chukker ended with the score 3-3, as both the teams scored one each.
Harper slammed in his third while Raja Samiullah fired home with a field goal for the losers.
In the fourth chukker Harper and Hissam fought it out both scoring two goals each making it 5-5
The fifth chukker yet again saw both teams scoring a goal apiece to make it 6-6.
Godara, who had replaced Gonzaloz Bourdieu in the third chukker, converted a fine pass from Harper to score the match-winner.
Six-goal Jose Rivas played another vital role for Bank Alfalah in completing a big win.
The bankers made a stormy start taking 5-1 lead by the end of first two chukkers. Rivas had completed his hat trick while Faaiz Rahim Khan and Martin Inchaupse added one each. For the losers, in form Chris Hyde, who scored six, opened his account.
The winners increased the lead to 8-3 in the third chukker as Rivas, Martin and Usman Haye struck one each. For the losers, Hyde and Peter Web reduced the margin.
In the fourth chukker, the bankers added two goals but conceded three to come out with 10-6 lead.
Rivas and Usman fired one each. For the losers Hyde scored all three.
The losers tried to come closer in the fifth chukker scoring two more but only to reduce the margin of defeat. Hyde and Web scored one each while Rivas slammed in his last for the winners.
