KARACHI, Feb 7: A 56-year-old man was stabbed to death on Wednesday by his son, and a 45-year-old man was shot dead by robbers in different parts of the city.
Surjani police said Zainul Abideen, a Bengali-speaking man, was stabbed to death in his house in Sector-36, Lyari Expressway, by his 24-year-old son, Zahid, who fled the scene.
They said suspect Zahid, a drug addict, killed his father when he refused to give him money. The victim worked as a labourer at Karachi Fisheries.
The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the doctors said the victim had received a fatal stab wound in the chest.
In the other incident, the 45-year-old man was shot dead by two robbers during a bungled robbery in the Risala police limits.Police said Nazir Hussain, who hailed from Dera Ghazi Khan, had gone to Jhoolay Laal Milk Shop to visit his relative after withdrawing Rs200,000 from a bank in Lea Market.
As he was talking to his maternal nephew, two bandits came there on a motorcycle and held him hostage at gunpoint. They opened fire as the man grappled with them.
The dacoits fled the scene after fatally shooting the victim. They, however, could not snatch the money from him.
The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital where the doctors said the victim had received two bullets in his upper torso.
The police suspected that the bandits were following the victim since he came out of the bank after withdrawing the cash.
A murder case against two unknown bandits was registered on the complaint of Shahnawaz, the nephew of the victim.
RS5M ROBBERY: Four bandits looted Rs5,062,980 from the manager of a factory at gunpoint on the Karimabad Bridge.
Azizabad police said Mohammed Shahzad was on his way in a Hi-roof with his driver when four bandits, riding on two motorcycles, intercepted him.
The dacoits held the manager and driver hostage at gunpoint, snatched the cash and decamped with the booty.
Arrest: Three members of a gang, one of them having reward money on his arrest, were nabbed by Sohrab Goth police on Tuesday.
The gangsters, hailing from Larkana, were wanted in several cases of murder, kidnapping for ransom, robberies and attempt to murder.
The provincial government had notified a reward money of Rs200,000 on the arrest of Abdus Sattar Sanjrani alias Qurban, who was wanted in 18 cases of heinous crimes in Shikarpur, Larkana and Karachi.
The police seized three pistols from him and his two associates – Sikander Ali Khokhar and Mashooq Ali Mangi. They were living in Sachal Goth in the limits of Sachal police station.
Accused Khokhar was also declared a proclaimed offender. He was wanted in eight cases – two murder cases and six attempt to murder cases – registered with three different police stations in Larkana.
Gadap Town Police Officer Sharjil Kharal said on a tip-off they were arrested on the main Super Highway. “They are suspected to have been planning to kidnap a wealthy person for ransom,” he added.
Mr Kharal said the DPOs of Shikarpur and Larkana and TPO of Gulshan-i-Iqbal had been intimated about the arrest of the accused so that they move to the courts for seeking their custody for interrogation in their respective cases.
