KARACHI, Jan 21: Yaum-i-Umar was observed across Sindh on Sunday with religious fervour across Sindh to mark the anniversary of the martyrdom of the second Khalifa-i-Rashida, Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA).
A seminar on “Yaum-i-Shahadat Farooq Azam (RA) and New Islamic Year” was held at the Binnoria University. Several thousand ulema, scholars and students attended the seminar.
Shaikhul Hadith Mufti Mohammad Naeem, Maulana Abdul Hamid, Maulana Abdul Majyd and other speakers lauded the valuable services of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA) to Islam, and said his era was the golden chapter in the history of Islam.
Mufti Naeem said the caliphate of Hazrat Umar (RA) was a model of exemplary governance which would continue to provide guidance to the world till the Day of Judgment.
In his tenure, the state provided every person with protection and social security, he added.
By following the rules of good governance laid down by Hazrat Umar (RA), the Ummah can get rid of poverty, worries, injustices and aggression, the ulema noted.—PPI
