ATTOCK, Jan 20: A joint meeting of army, police and civil administration has finalised a security plan for Muharram and declared 30 localities in the district as sensitive, it has been learnt.

The points include Maluwali, Domail, Jahmat, Sheenbagh, Shakerdera, Kamra kalah and Zameenbajal, where troops would be deployed to maintain peace during Muharram.

Joint flag march of Police and Army would be carried out at district headquarter and every tehsil on Muharram 1st to review the security measures.

Besides army, 700 police officials of district police and 500 personnel of Punjab Constabulary would also be deployed to strengthen the security arrangements. All police employees leaves have been cancelled.

Intelligence cells had been set up at all 13 police stations of the district for collection of intelligence pertaining to sectarian situation. The cells would submit their daily reports to district police headquarter.

The personnel of law enforcing agencies, in collaboration with the intelligence cells, would keep strict check on the movement of religious extremists and other anti-social elements to avoid any terrorist activities

About 688 Majalis and 116 Muharram Processions would be held in various areas of the district till Muharram 10.

According Prescribed Code of conduct sent to the leaders of both sects, ban has been imposed on use of loudspeakers, while no one would be allowed to distribute any objectionable literature, deliver provocative speeches and make derogatory remarks against each other.

The witnessing of processions from rooftops would be banned besides prohibiting display of weapons.

No vehicle would be allowed within 100 yards of Imambargahs or processions, while traditional routes of mourning processions would not be changed or extended.

Organisers of all majalis/processions had been asked to arrange metal detectors and walk through gates to avoid any terrorist entry.

A control room, set up at district police headquarters, would 24-hour monitor the security arrangements.
