KARACHI, Jan 7: Two persons died in road accidents in different parts of the city here on Sunday. Police said that 70-year-old Subha Khan was crossing the Gurumandir intersection when a speeding bus heading to the interior of Sindh hit him.

The victim was taken to the Civil Hospital, but he died before reaching the hospital.

Police claimed to have arrested the driver, Amir Khan, and impounded the bus.

In another accident, a motorcyclist died when a speeding lorry hit him near Gul Bai, in Shershah area.

Police said Rafaqat Ali, 37, was passing through the area on his motorcycle when the accident occurred.

Police said the victim died before he could be taken to the hospital.

Following the accident police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for legal formalities. The deceased was a clearing a forwarding agent.

ARRESTED: Police on Sunday arrested two suspects following a shootout in Orangi Town and seized a substantial quantity of gold ornaments from them.

Police said that the suspects had carried out a robbery at a bungalow in the Defence Housing Authority on December 26, 2006.

Identifying them as Anis Khan and Rasheed, police said that along with their accomplices the suspects had carried out the robbery at the house of Mr Yasir in the DHA.

Police said they had seized Rs85 million worth of jewellery from the arrested men.
