PESHAWAR: Robber arrested

PESHAWAR, Dec 30: Police on Friday night arrested an alleged robber in Hayatabad township. Police said that the accused, Inayatur Rehman alias Sheeno, of Mardan, was wanted to police for his involvement in various cases, including robbery and street crimes.

An official of the Khyber police station said that Khalid Khan, of Hayatabad township phase II, was stopped by the accused at gunpoint and tried to snatch his mobile phone, upon resistance the accused opened fire and injured him. He took away the cellular phone.

After the incident, police cordoned off various routes and arrested the accused. The mobile phone and pistol were recovered from his possession.

Police said the accused confessed that he was hired by a former nazim in Rawalpindi for killing his rival.

The police also claimed that the accused also admitted committing other crimes in Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Tamberpura.
