KARACHI, Dec 20: The drive to take action against holding of weekly bazaars on parks, playgrounds, greenbelts and service lanes is gaining momentum as the city government on Wednesday closed down five more such bazaars. These bazaars were set up in Korangi, Gulberg and Baldia towns.

The drive was launched on the orders of City Nazim Mustafa Kamal.

The previous city government had permitted various individuals to set up bazaars on all such public places. The city government had already launched a phase-wise drive against illegal bazaars to clear the playgrounds, parks and other sites reserved for recreational facilities. The drive will continue for a month.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Services Group of Offices on Wednesday introduced a system for the removal and disposal of offal and waste in the limits of the city government during Eid-ul-Azha. The task will be supervised by EDO Municipal Services Masood Alam who will coordinate between civic agencies, city government and all towns.

In this regard, the city government and all the 18 towns have established complaint centres to help citizens and these centres will work round-the-clock during the three days of Eid to redress public grievances promptly.

People were advised to lodge their complaints at the centralised telephone number 134 or contact their respective towns.
